Kate Hudson’s Kids Bingham & Rani Help Her Celebrate the First Day of Hanukkah & It’ll Give You All the Feels

Kate Hudson celebrated the first day of Hanukkah with a sweet, menorah-lighting ceremony with her kids Bingham, 12, and Rani, 5.

In the video posted to Instagram, the Almost Famous actress uses the shamash to light the first candle on the menorah, then places it back in its spot in the center. Next, Bingham uses a match to light the shamash on a different menorah. Rani, who is dressed in a cute Mickey Mouse and friends dress, then lights the first candle on an intricate, floral menorah. Hudson helps her carefully set the lit candle it in its place, and then the kids spend some time snuggling with their mom as she chats with them. It’s such a heartwarming family moment.

Later, Hudson raises a glass of red wine. “Here’s to miracles,” she said. “Miracles and hope. Happy Hanukkah.”

“Connecting to love, light, miracles and peace tonight on the first day of Hanukkah ✨” she captioned it. “Happy Hanukkah everyone 🫶.”

The Glass Onion star has opened up about her Jewish ancestry before.

“My grandmother [who is her mom Goldie Hawn’s mother] is Jewish — was Jewish. Of all of the relationships that I’m made up of, Judaism was the one that I knew the most because she lived with us and she was very religious,” Hudson told Vogue in a beauty tutorial. “She lit candles every Friday and put a napkin on her head. I remember when we were little, she’d put the little napkin on her head and we all thought it was funny, and she’d be like, ‘it’s not funny!’ But Gram was the best, so Judaism was everything that I ever knew.”

However, Hudson also celebrates Christmas. Last year, she shared several photos and videos of her and Rani (and Rani’s dad Danny Fujikawa) and Bingham going to a live tree farm to pick out a tree and play hide-and-seek.

Her kids, including her eldest Ryder Robinson, 19, wore matching holiday pjs last year as they took pictures in front of red stockings. She also shared footage of kids opening presents, a photo of Rani riding a horse in the snow, and cookies decorated like Santa.

“Merry Christmas all of you beautiful people out there! Sending you crazy joy from our nutty family to yours🎄,” she captioned the post.

Getting to celebrate two winter holidays instead of one must be super special for the kids. Two sets of presents? Yes, please! But it also seems like Hudson is doing her best to teach her kids about love and joy with both of these holidays — which is exactly what this season is all about!
